Your Charitable Enduring Gift to the Manistee Conservation District may take place through your choice of any of the following vehicles
ü A Bequest
A gift through a bequest names the Manistee Conservation District as a recipient of a portion of a person's estate, when the District is directly named in their current will or trust. The bequest may place your stipulations on the gift as to what the funds may be used for; such as water protection, forestry preservation, wildlife enhancement, education or the gift may be unencumbered.
ü A Gift of Securities
When the Manistee Conservation District is named as benefactor or directly given a gift in the form of stock, bonds, or mutual funds; this act could result in the preclusion of some tax liabilities; such as capital gains.
ü A Gift of Real Estate
The gift of either undeveloped or developed property within Manistee County can into perpetuity assist the Manistee Conservation District allowing the property to be used as an outdoor classroom, a demonstration site of self sustaining conservation practices, or the protection of a locally unique natural resource.
Any planned giving in the aforementioned options may be given anonymously or with recognition, but the main benefit of this giving is that it will provide a lasting legacy for our natural resources in Manistee County. These significant contributions will offer permanent protections for lands that have been, and are important to you and your family; so that our grandchildren will be able to enjoy these same Natural Resources.
You may desire Manistee Conservation District’s input regarding our capabilities of carrying forward your designated plans for your enduring gift, or you may desire just to inform the District of your plans. However, neither is required.
Please note that because the Manistee Conservation District is an entity of local government, any contribution to the District is considered tax deductible and could have significant results on your estate planning. It is therefore our recommendation that you seek the advice from your estate planner, tax advisor, and / or your attorney.
